As a mother to three, I know all too well how fast our children grow. the chubby fingers, the chunky newborn rolls, and adorable dimples seem to change right before our eyes. For most of us today, the majority of our photos are stored on our phones and computers before being forgotten in the cloud forever. My hope for your session is to leave you with images that will be classic heirloom imagery that you can proudly display in your home.
After you book, I’ll send information on how to dress, a styling guide, and a shopping tool that takes the guesswork out of coordinating attire. Based on our phone conversation i’ll start scouting locations that will be favorable for your timeframe and your vision.
If we've decided to move forward, I'll send a contract and an invoice where you will be able to pay the session fee. This will lock in your date.
Once you inquire about my services, we'll schedule a time to meet in person or over the phone. We'll chat about the details of what you envision for your session and help determine if I'm the best fit for you!
I will send tips on how to prepare for your session.
Once I have your images back from the film lab, I will begin processing your digital images. You can expect your gallery within 3-4 weeks of your shoot. You'll be able to share images with your family, mark you favorites, and order any prints directly from your gallery's website.
We'll meet at your session location and i'll provide natural direction and some simple poses to evoke an authentic connection between you and your family.
Katie specializes in newborn, family, and wedding photography. I am fortunate to split my time between the greater Chicago area and Door County, Wisconsin. For wedding information, please visit my Door County Wedding site.
My specialty is capturing authentic connections in a natural un-posed manner. While I do incorporate poses into my sessions, I feel the most natural beauty comes from movement and laughter.
I am also a hybrid photographer, meaning I incorporate film into my sessions. This allows me to capture the soft and airy look of film and digital allows me to capture the fast movement of toddlers.
I do offer seasonal mini sessions in the spring and fall. Sign up here to get on my email list of following m on Facebook or Instagram to see when I announce a seasonal session.

The majority of my session occur outdoors. I scout locations that fit my client's needs and offer the best flora and colors for the seasons. However, I do offer the occasional indoor session in my studio in Lake Forest.
Once booked, each client received detailed information including a styling guide and one on one consulting on what colors and outfits will best suit their family and the location of the shoot.
I don't have a hard and fast rule about the timeframe. If children are slow to warm up to the process I'll give them time to get comfortable. Generally speaking, sessions are about an hour long.
To book a session with me and hold your spot, a $200 session fee is required. This fee does not include any products or images. A large variety of collections and a-la-carte products are offered. The range is large, but on average, clients spend in the vicinity of $1200 .
The lead time to relieve your gallery is generally about 3 weeks.
I narrow down your gallery and only deliver the best images from our time together. My motto is quality over quantity! Your gallery will contain about 30-40 images.
Each digital image comes with print rights up to 8x10 in size.
Yes, digital files are available both individually and at a discounted package rate.
Yes, when booking both a maternity and newborn session, your session fee for your newborn session is waived.
Generally, mothers prefer for me to come into their home for an at-home newborn session. This alleviates the stress of having to take the baby and siblings out of the house in those first busy weeks. But I do offer studio sessions in my Lake Forest studio for those who'd prefer a more stylized look for their newborn portraits.
Katie was magic when it came to taking pictures of my 2 and 4 year olds. They listened and followed all of her directions (no easy feat) and now we have the more gorgeous photos that our family will forever treasure. She was very kind from the start and we all felt very comfortable in front of the camera thanks to her. She also was a huge help with preparing outfits and props for the photos. I would have had no idea what to do without her guidance.
Getting photos done with Katie is an investment that you certainly will not regret.
To describe Katie in two words, she's THE BEST. She created the most gorgeous setting for our engagement when my fiance reached out to her in a pinch. She gave us the most beautiful memories of the best days of our lives to date. Our joy couldn't have been captured more perfectly from the minute we walked up to the picnic to the moment we popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate. She also made the trip into Chicago, scouted locations, and directed the most amazing engagement shoot for us. Not only is every penny spent well worth it, but Katie is the most fun to work with. She's kind, warm, and so funny. 20/10 recommend working with Katie.

Highly recommend! Katie is as kind as she is talented. She truly cares about the people she's photographing. The day of our family photoshoot ended up being a windy and chilly day at the lake. Katie was so flexible. She offered to either reschedule or continue through the weather (she's a mom too and knows the effort it takes to get small children ready to go anywhere). We decided to do it that day because my 2 and 4-year-old were in good spirits. They were just happy to be at the beach! Katie got the most precious photos of my kids just being themselves. These are moments we will cherish forever. We are so thankful, and look forward to future family photo shoots with her!

We had a wonderful fall photoshoot with Kathryn! She was professional and easy to work with. She chose a beautiful location and sent great tips and ideas on how to prepare for the photoshoot. I had a 7-year old who wasn't exactly in the "mood" to be cooperative but Kathryn easily drew him out of his funk and our pics turned out amazing. I will be hiring Kathryn for more family pictures in the future.
